Position Summary

Provides technical compensation support to the Compensation Services team and to the HR Department in recruiting, developing and retaining a high-caliber, diverse workforce.  Responsible for maintaining strong relationships with business partners to achieve positive and effective outcomes in support of university and departmental business objectives.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Provides day-to-day consultation, analysis and support to management on compensation strategy, policy & procedures, and overall salary administration.
  2. Performs job analysis, job evaluation, and maintenance of university job descriptions and classification structure.
  3. Serves as an internal resource to the department and the organization in understanding and applying compensation related programs.
  4. Maintains annual pay plans for Classified and Management Academic and Professional (A&P) staff.
  5. Participates in salary surveys
  6. Advises and assists managers in completing, modifying and revising job descriptions. 
  7. Performs market pricing and/or job slotting activities.
  8. Reviews and recommends updates to university compensation related policies to reflect current Federal, State and UT System laws, regulations, policies and practices.
  9. Contributes to the maintenance of pay programs including salary structure changes, merit programs, and other pay programs.
  10. Assists in the development of specialized programs to meet organizational needs.
  11. Participates in various compensation projects.
  12. Ensures compensation practices are in compliance with University, State, and Federal guidelines and regulations.      
  13. Prepares internal compensation analyses and monitors metrics to support sound workforce decision-making and management.
  14. Prepares various compliance-related compensation reports.  
  15. Responsible for keeping compensation department information up to date.
  16. Other duties as required.

Certification/Skills

Preferred: Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or working toward CCP designation.

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or related field or relevant experience in lieu of education.

Minimum Experience

Two years of responsible, related professional experience within human resources. Preferred: At least one year of compensation experience.

Physical Requirements

Exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount frequently to move objects.

Security Sensitive
