Human Resources Business Partner
Position Summary
The incumbent is the first point of contact for the client, working to identify and broker HR solutions with clients while appropriately utilizing the resources of subject matter experts within the department. Incumbent provides strategic advisement and consultation to assigned clients, leveraging and integrating knowledge of modern professional HR practice, University/System Policies, and employment law.
Key Accountabilities
- Actively engages with the client to develop deep understanding of business operations and strategy in order to best anticipate and recommend effective HR strategy and practice aligned with the business. Gathers metrics and uses data analytics to understand and identify business issues and drive recommendations.
- In collaboration with HR functional service lines, assists clients in talent forecasting and management, organization re-design/ re-structuring, development of position descriptions, position classification, and salary action recommendations. May participate in candidate screening and selection process for key positions.
- Collaborates with HR functional service lines to identify and facilitate development opportunities in the organization, to include management training, one-on-one coaching, and development of employee engagement strategies, orientation and on-boarding.
- Provides thoughtful and accurate HR policy interpretation, to include balancing risk and business needs. Routinely engages expertise and guidance from Employee Relations and EO Advisor. Provides subject matter expert guidance to clients in managing employee relations, to include but not limited to the following: performance management, investigations, and disciplinary actions; mediates conflict and supports constructive resolutions
- Acts as change catalyst and leader. Identifies organizational issues that limit effectiveness and collaborates within HR to develop and deliver practical solutions. Seeks out opportunities to support the organization toward continuing to evolve a high performance culture. Partners with leadership to move the organization effectively through significant change such as growth, restructuring and process improvement.

Certification/Skills
PHR or SPHR highly preferred
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Communications; Master’s degree preferred
Minimum Experience
Five years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources; experience in at least one HR specialty function such as Employee Relations, Learning &Development, Recruitment, etc.
Physical Requirements
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
