McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), non-tenure clinical track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. The candidate will join a talented team of physicians that strive for excellence in education, research and clinical practice.


Position Key Accountabilities:

The candidate with rank of Assistant Professor in Orthopedic Surgery will be responsible for clinical service, research activities, administrative and other activities; provide direct patient care and supervision of medical students and residents in clinic and hospital settings. 

- Participating in the UT Physicians practice at various locations as well as    

  surgical locations at Memorial Hermann; including participation

  in UT Orthopedic Surgery physician group call schedule.
- Collaborating with other physicians who will be in practice.
- Being involved in the recruitment, selection and hiring of new or additional 
  physicians to the group
- Providing feedback regarding office operations including hiring staff, office
  logistics and new physician recruitment.
- Participating in the education and training of medical students and residents
- Supporting the research mission of the department and university through:

a) Facilitating reasonable and appropriate access to patients by research staff.
b) Assisting when requested with collection of research data including 

    biological specimens and
c) Providing information and education on on-going research studies to

   potentially eligible research subjects. 

Qualifications:

The selected candidate for the position must have a Texas Medical License or be eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License. Required or preferred board certification/eligibility statement. Required or preferred minimum years of clinical experience or years post residency statement.
