McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston UTHealth, a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time, 1.0 FTE, Assistant Professor non-tenure clinical faculty position in the Department of Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery. The selected candidate will contribute to the department’s mission to educate health science professionals, discover and translate advances in the biomedical and social sciences, and model the best practices in clinical care and public health through research, teaching, clinical service, administrative activities


Position Key Accountabilities:

The Rank of Assistant Professor in Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery will teach, and participate in clinical service, administrative and other activities, i.e., provide direct patient care and supervision of medical students and residents in clinic and hospital settings.

-Participating in the Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery practice in the Greater   Houston are Memorial Hermann locations; including participation in a UT   general Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery physician group call team for   coverage.

-Collaborating with other Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery physicians who     
 will join the practice.

-Being involved in the recruitment, selection and hiring of new or additional
 physicians to the group

-Providing feedback regarding office operations including hiring staff, office
 logistics and new physician recruitment.

-Participating in the education and training of medical students and residents

-Supporting the research mission of the department and university through:

a) Facilitating reasonable and appropriate access to patients by research staff.

b) Assisting when requested with collection of research data including biological
    specimens and

c) Providing information and education on on-going research studies to
    potentially eligible research subjects.

Qualifications:

The selected candidate for the position must have a Texas Medical License or be eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License. Required or preferred board certification/eligibility statement. Required or preferred minimum years of clinical experience or years post residency statement.
