Assistant Professor, Surgery - McGovern Medical School
McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) invites applicants for a full-time Assistant Professor of Surgery position in the Department of Surgery at Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital. This position is a non-tenure clinical educator position.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Responsibilities of the successful candidate will be in the Division of General Surgery at Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital. You will be expected to actively participate in the teaching and academic activities of the Department of Surgery by working with residents and fellows and in student education. You will be expected to attend in the outpatient surgery clinic on a regular basis, make inpatient rounds and staff the procedure clinic and the ICU. Also included is presentations and lectures and attendance at appropriate conferences such as Surgery Grand Rounds and Morbidity and Mortality Conferences plus the scheduled divisional conferences.
You will be expected to take two call shifts of twelve hours each per month and will be offered the opportunity to take more call if you desire. The compensation for additional call is dependent on the availability of departmental funds and can be adjusted according to the financial performance of the service.
The successful candidate will participate in a large, active academic practice, provide resident teaching, medical student teaching and participate in local and national conferences. Qualifications:
Applicants must have a medical degree, be board certified in general surgery and board eligible in surgical critical care. Applicants must be eligible for full medical licensure in the state of Texas.
