POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Qualified candidates at all ranks on the tenure track should have a funded program of scientific research or show a strong potential for developing one. Tenure track faculty are expected to teach and actively maintain their research productivity.
Qualified candidates at all ranks on the non-tenure track should have a strong clinical background; teaching experience is preferred. Non-tenure track faculty are expected to teach and maintain a relevant area of scholarship.
Instructional responsibilities include both didactic coursework (online and classroom as appropriate) and clinical supervision of students at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels.
Faculty may also provide direct patient care activities through clinical practice opportunities with affiliated hospitals and other healthcare organizations.
Other scholarly/institutional service responsibilities will be determined in coordination with the Department Chair.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A doctoral degree in nursing (PhD or DNP) or related field and eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse in Texas are required. MSN or related discipline preferred.
Three years of experience as a nurse educator or nurse practitioner in a clinical and/or educational setting is highly desirable for non-tenure track faculty.
For tenure-track faculty, preference is given to those who have completed a funded post-doctoral fellowship and to those who have a history of federal funding as a principal investigator.
Additional certifications may be required or desired depending upon the specialty area (e.g. CRNA, NP-C).
