Position Summary:
In an effort to provide the highest quality of service to our customers, the Director of Revenue Cycle Services is responsible for effectively partnering with UTHealth, UT Physicians, third party providers, partner clinics and hospitals staff to maximize revenue cycle performance. Enables effective communication and messaging, provides operational analysis, collaborates with various parts of the organization to facilitate improvements at throughout the revenue cycle, and provides strategic direction to lead the transformation, standardization and, in some cases, centralization of patient access functions and systems within UT Physicians.
Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Collaborates closely with senior revenue cycle department leadership to develop the communications and monthly reporting packages to provide consistent and reliable support to internal and external customers.
2. Able to work independently, present to all levels of the organization, and drive improvements throughout.
3. Builds strong relationships with all facets of the organization related to revenue cycle operations. Becomes a trusted partner for all parties involved with deep departmental knowledge.
4. Identifies problem areas for customer base, works with all required team members to develop action plans, oversees execution of action plans, and reports out progress to leadership.
5. Provides solutions, gains consensus and executes change in revenue cycle improvement efforts, across the clinical departments and back end billing functions for the development of consistent and comprehensive revenue cycle practices.
6. Participates in improving the patient experience by improving efficiency and service quality for customer-facing revenue cycle related activities.
7. Identifies training opportunities to help ensure consistency in functions across the institution and works with appropriate teams to coordinate the delivery of training.
8. Supervises staff & participates in providing shoulder-to-shoulder support in the practices as well as other locations as revenue cycle initiatives are introduced for remediation.
9. Participates in the development, implementation and maintenance of new features and functionalities in the GECB application. Participates in reporting recommendations for changes/updates to the UTP Practice Leadership for decision/execution.
10. Oversees activities between work streams and ensures initiatives progress timely.
11. Manages Human Resources activities for direct reports in regards to: recruiting and selection; hiring and termination, training, development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
Strong leadership, analytical and communication (oral and written) skills. Proficiency in various practice management systems, MS Office products as well as various claim scrubber technologies preferred.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related; or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
Minimum Experience:
Seven (7) years leadership experience in a physician practice or hospital revenue cycle environment with academic physician practice experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
