Position Summary:

Manages resources to ensure that all end users can utilize the technology that Information Services provides to perform the duties of their jobs.

Position Key Accountabilities:

1.  Leads the effective and efficient delivery of the Desktop Support Function to ensure the ongoing service provided is proactive, professional and business focused.
2.  Ensures all phases of desktop support including installations, upgrades, software, hardware, operating systems and operating systems configuration.
3.  Maintains customer satisfaction at a high level and evaluates and/or modifies procedures to ensure efficiency of the Desktop staff.
4.  Establishes clear individual and team objectives/priorities and is accountable for execution of assigned projects and/or strategies.
5.  Coordinates resources with the Windows Systems Administrators to manage changes to the environment, such as major upgrades and enhancements.
6.  Administers and manages the replacement cycle for administrative desktops to include specifications, acquisition, scheduling, and retuning of leased equipment.
7.  Manages the desktop group to ensure the implementation and maintenance of all equipment which encompasses Hardware/Software and Software licensing.
8.  Assists Director in developing annual budgets (operating and capital) and monitors spending against established Desktop Services budget.
9.  Assists with the development of and manages the adherence to established and documented processes, tools, and best practices.
10.  Manages Human Resources activities of department in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.  
11.  Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

MCSE certification preferred.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience in lieu of education.

Minimum Experience:

Five (5) years of desktop support experience with three (3) years of experience leading/managing a desktop support team. Experience with hardware lease cycles and large-scale deployments required.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.

Security Sensitive:

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
