POSITION SUMMARY:

Develops and writes curriculum, reading research and writing training for literacy and math development for the early child.

POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Writes statewide curriculum for use in Pre-kindergarten, elementary, and secondary schools.

2. Designs presentations and trains teachers nation-wide on the most current research information and classroom instruction techniques.

3. Translates current research into lessons for teachers.  Demonstrates model lessons in classrooms for teachers; provides on-going side-by-side coaching for teachers in classroom settings.

4. Travels to local, state, and national training sites to evaluate classroom instructions.

5. Evaluates current school textbooks and provides feedback on how to differentiate, improve and upgrade instruction techniques.

6. Reviews national reading curriculums for Pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, elementary, and secondary schools.

7. Collects and reviews testing data from sites for research

8. Writes and directs classroom instructional video.

9. Prepares executive summaries and reports upon completion of on-going classroom sites.

10. Other duties as assigned

CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

• Certified teacher preferred

• Knowledge of current reading research applications, experience with presenting best practices in reading, experience classroom teacher who has supervised and coached teaching.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree required.  Master’s degree in education preferred.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

7-10 years of experience in teaching or curriculum writing with a bachelor’s degree.  5-7 years of experience in teaching or curriculum writing with a master’s degree.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215
