Applications Support Specialist - Information Technology
Position Summary:
Provides end user hardware and software support and simple to moderate technical skills required to configure on-line shared applications.
Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Manages the administrative configurations of on-line shared application(s) (i.e. authorization rules, automated provisioning interfaces, metadata, data structures etc.)
2. Assists users in understanding how to appropriately utilize shared on-line application(s).
3. Assesses how well application(s) are meeting the varied needs of the user community and recommends changes in process, procedures and interfaces when appropriate.
4. Works with the UTHSC-H help desk to efficiently resolve existing problems encountered by the user community.
5. Recognizes and recommends to system administrators and programmer analysts areas where systems should interact to provide increased user efficiency and satisfaction.
6. Reviews training resources to determine their suitability and effectiveness. Recommends changes in such resources and procedures when appropriate.
7. Configures applications to meet specifications and adheres to departmental standards.
8. All other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
* End-user reporting tools.
* Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) Editors.
* Graphic Design to include web, video and print.
* Support and administration of shared applications.
* Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Minimum Education:
Associate’s degree in computer/management information systems or related field or relevant experience in lieu of education.
Minimum Experience:
Two years of experience administering, configuring, and supporting multi-user applications.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or 10 pounds constantly to move objects.

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215
