Position Summary:
Provides advising information to students throughout the academic year; responsible for coordinating the advising process with the divisions and regional campuses, and develops advising materials and resources.
Position Key Accountabilities:
- Provides advising information to students throughout the academic year.
- Provides support to students during the registration process.
- Explores various major and career options.
- Advises and counsels students for course selection/registration and develops student degree plans.
- Counsels students on academic policies and procedures.
- Conducts individual and group advising sessions.
- Coordinates the advising process with the divisions and regional campuses, and develops advising materials and resources.
- Other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent attention to detail, skilled multi-tasking ability, demonstrated commitment to follow-through of assigned tasks and projects, and exceptional customer services skills. Excellent computer skills including facility with Microsoft Office Suite and database management.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree in related field with three (3) years of related experience; experience in advising or Student Affairs in a University setting preferred; or
Master’s degree in related field with one (1) year of related experience; experience in advising or Student Affairs in a University setting preferred.
Minimum Experience:
Years of experience varies based on education level.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
